The localisation

Localisation is the determination of a geographical location of objects and people. It can be effected by means satellite navigation as per GPS-system, via existing cellular networks, WLANs and also via RFID.

The localisation can refer to persons or to moving and static objects, so it can be used in patient monitoring for the detection of mentally ill persons or the geo-fencing in open-prison.

It is also possible to locate vessels and vehicles, determine the position of containers at a container port or devices within a company. Since the localisation can be used for both static and moving objects the transition to tracking is smooth.
